The most distinctly dramatic ailment associated with brain. This disorder is generally of psychotic nature and one suffering from this disorder may feel intense despair, irritability and mood changes. This intensity can be normalized for some time during the period of attack as well. The changes in mood influence the behavior and disturbed patterns of activity and sleep. Estimations and evaluations have shown that there are some three percent of the entire American population is suffering from bipolar disorder. This is not as severe a form of mental disorder as is depression.

One of the forms of this disorder is “classic bipolar disorder” that involves repeated attacks or episodes for depression and mania. This classic Bipolar disorder has another name assigned that is “bipolar I disorder”. Another form of bipolar does not have the severe mania instead moderate but regular episodes of mania are experienced. This mania is described in medical terms as “hypomania” which keeps on alternating with depression and this form is known as “bipolar II disorder”.

Researches are evident that both genders are equally attacked by a mental disease however, a slight difference for genders is also observed and that is women can have more episodes of depression as compared to mania in men. Men do not experience mixed states of hypomania and depression as women do. The repetition of episodes is more frequent among women. Say if men are experiencing an episode per year then women may experience up to four episodes or cycles of bipolar disorder per year.

The bipolar symptoms are severe and they can even prove dangerous for life as well. No cure has been discovered for this disease until now however, some drugs are used for treating the repetition of the cycles. Maintenance for this disorder is extremely important after a person has experienced it once.

Bipolar disorder requires a lifetime treatment and maintenances. If a woman is considering a pregnancy then she must take special measures and has to go through extreme medical challenges. A woman with pregnancy and recent delivery has seven times more risk to be hospitalized as compared to other women.

So if you are a woman who is experiencing cycles or episodes of bipolar disorder then it is advised to get in to contact with your doctor, discuss your pregnancy and bipolar disorder in detail, and seek for the medications and other treatments for a healthy delivery and stabilized mood.
